Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon

2011 Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon

Thank you all for making this year’s Help the Homeless Walkathon a huge success! More than 2,000 supporters walked with THC this year and we walked with nearly 100 Friends of THC at the Walkathon!  Thanks to all the THC walkers and Friends of THC donors for your continued support in this annual event, we are looking forward to see how Fannie Mae will make changes to next year’s Walkathon program (mostly Mini-Walks) without the Walk on the National Mall.

2010 Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon

Thank you to everyone who supported THC through the Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Program.  It was a huge success as we exceeded our goal of 1,100 walkers!  950 walkers supported THC from the following Mini-Walks: Truesdell Education Campus, Murch Elementary School, Sidwell Friends School, The Kingsbury Center, St. John’s Episcopal Church (Norwood Parish), and Christ Lutheran Church.  Special thanks to our very own families for participating in the mini-walks from Partner Arms 1, 2 and 3.  And an extra special thanks to each Mini-Walk coordinator for all of their efforts in preparing and executing such a successful mini-walk program.

Thank you to all who donated to the Friends of THC sponsorship.  Your contribution will allow THC to further enhance the programs and services that are helping hundreds of THC families make transformational changes in their lives.  Thank you to BuckleySandler LLP for their continued sponsorship of THC in the Help the Homeless program.

THC would not have been able to meet our 1,100 walker goal if it weren’t for The George Washington University.  GW rallied over 90 student walkers on behalf of THC this year.  Thank you to GW and to all THC supporters for furthering our mission of housing families and transforming lives!

2009 Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon

Thanks to your support, this year’s Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon was a tremendous success!  Seven mini-walks, a phenomenal walker turnout at the National Mall, and generous Sponsoring Partners all contributed to the more than $50,000 raised through THC’s 2009 Walkathon.

The biggest highlight from the ’09 Walkathon was the support THC received in the form of walkers!  With over 95 registered walkers, THC had more walkers for the Walkathon in 2009 than in any previous year! THC’s Staff, Board Members, residents, volunteers, and friends, both old and new, enjoyed a sunny 5k around the National Mall, Lincoln Memorial, and the FDR Memorial.

In addition to the successful National Mall Walkathon, THC also had over 850 walkers at various youth engagements and mini-walks throughout September and October at churches and schools across DC.  Our mini-walks were both fun and educational.  These walks included interactive presentations on homelessness, question and answer sessions with students, and mini-walks where students raise homelessness awareness in their communities.  THC would like to thank: Truesdell Education Center, Murch Elementary School, Sidwell Friends School, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Norwood Parish, Kingsbury School, Girl Scout Troop 2861, and the Partner Arms Community for hosting 2009 mini-walk events.  We would like to also extend our sincere gratitude for all of those who coordinated mini-walks, as well as our Truesdell Education Center mini-walk guests and supporters, Councilmember Muriel Bowser, Ms. Ayana Rockey, and Ms. Daisy Saveage, Ms. Senior D.C. 2002.

THC’s 2009 Walkathon success is also attributed to our Sponsoring Partners.  Friends of THC’s Sponsoring Partner group met their Walkathon commitment of raising $20,000 for THC!  Finally, THC would like to thank our 2 corporate supporters in 2009, BuckleySandler LLP, who contributed $5,000.00 to this year’s event, and Hewlett-Packard, who contributed $1,500.00 to the 2009 event.

The Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon is an important event for THC, and for the greater D.C. community.  Each year, the Walkathon raises awareness for homelessness and raises crucial funding for agencies that work to prevent and end homelessness in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.  THC extends a sincere thank you to all of our walkers, mini-walkers, donors and community partners.  Your support allows us to continue serving families who are working hard to make transformational changes in their lives.

Thank you and we hope to see you again at the 2010 Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon!

Walkathon 2008

The Board of Directors, staff and residents of THC were overwhelmed with the generous support of over 800 walkers that participated in Fannie Mae’s Help the Homeless Walkathon Events with us in November, 2008! More than $60,000 was raised through eight mini-walks and support from Friends of THC, GW Hippos, Senator Brown’s Hill Staffers, Every Heart Deserves a Home, Buckley Kolar and Friends of THC.  All funds will be used to continue and expand the programs and services we provide for our clients. We are especially grateful to be a beneficiary of Fannie Mae’s Employee Giving Fund. Thank you to the organizations and participants above, who are helping to house homeless families and help families make transformational change in their lives.
