Annual Reception

2011 Living in the City

This year’s 2011 Living in the City was a wonderful celebration with THC supporters, staff, Board of Directors, award honorees, and clients. More than 150 people attended THC’s annual benefit and silent auction at the Washington Club on Thursday, May 19, 2011.

John Kelly of The Washington Post was the master of ceremonies for the evening as THC honored BuckleySandler LLP with the Community Leadership Award, Somerset Development Company LLC and Michael Milhaupt each received the Housing Leadership Award, and The George Washington University with the Carla B. Howery Service Award.

THC is grateful for the support we receive from the local community and businesses who donate to the LITC silent auction. With 61 auction items donated by 58 different businesses and donors, the silent auction generated more than $5,000!
Thank you to everyone!

Special thanks to all of the 2011 Living in the City sponsors for making this event possible:

2010 Living in the City 20th Anniversary Benefit

More than 180 THC supporters helped celebrate THC’s 20th Anniversary at the 2010 Living in the City benefit that was held on Thursday, May 27 at the Washington Club.  THC’s annual event, hosted by Barbara Harrison, NBC 4 Midday Anchor and Special Reporter, celebrated the hard work and achievements of 2 former Partner Arms transitional housing clients, Imani Walker and Gail Parker, as well as two current THC clients, Shamekia Murray, a Partner Arms 2 client, and Sherrena Duncan, a permanent supportive housing client.  Each of them gave poignant speeches about their path to THC housing programs and how their lives have been enriched through the supportive programs.  Please read their stories here.
