Partner Arms

Through our Partner Arms transitional housing program, THC operates two apartment buildings in Ward 4 of Washington, DC. Partner Arms I, a 14-unit apartment building at 935 Kennedy Street, NW, opened as a transitional housing facility in January 1993. Partner Arms II opened in 2003, and we now have 27 transitional housing units. The families who live in Partner Arms I and II are supported through a structured two-year program focusing on improving life skills, developing family decision making, finding employment, and counseling for substance abuse.

Adults are not the sole focus of THC’s Partner Arms program. Partner Arms I and II also have an active youth enrichment program, supported in part through THC’s many wonderful volunteers! Held concurrently with adult programs, our weekly Youth Enrichment programs are led by professional staff and assisted by volunteers.

If you are seeking placement in THC’s Partner Arms program, you must first be registered at the Virginia Williams Family Resource Center at 920 Rhode Island Ave N.E. After you are registered, please contact Connie Highfill, Program Director, at 202-722-6305 to inquire about availability and requirements.

Housing with Care

New for 2008 will be THC’s Housing with Care program. THC will provide permanent supportive housing to 19 families located at scattered sites throughout Wards 1, 4, and 5 in the District of Columbia. Participants will receive supportive services, much like THC’s Partner Arms programs. Many of the same services received in the Partner Arms program (job preparation, independent living, self-esteem, health and wellness) will be offered to Housing with Care participants.
