Transitional Housing Corporation (THC) is a faith-based, District-based, non-profit entity providing housing and comprehensive support services to homeless and at-risk families. THC houses twenty-seven families in two transitional housing apartment buildings, Partner Arms I and Partner Arms II, located in Washington DC's Ward 4. Since1990 THC has helped over 180 families move from homelessness to permanent housing and lives of independence and dignity.

The success of these projects is due to the support and interest of District officials as well as grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and financial support from foundations, corporations, faith-based organizations, and individuals.

Transitional housing is only the beginning of helping at-risk families achieve lives of self-sufficiency. In 2005 THC created THC Affordable Housing, Inc. (THCAH) to provide affordable rental housing to low/moderate income families. THCAH has purchased one building in Ward 4 slated for renovation in 2009 and is currently working with Somerset Development Co. to purchase and renovate a 52 unit apartment building in District Ward 4.

In July, 2008 THC will formally begin its Housing With Care program funded by both a generous grant from the William S. Abell Foundation and a recurring HUD grant through the Community Partnership for the Prevention of Homelessness. THC will provide permanent supportive housing to nineteen families located in apartments (scattered sites) in District Wards 1, 4, and 5. Families will receive intensive case management delivered in their own homes by visiting care professionals.
